Choosing the right scratcher
For an upright scratcher, the post should be taller than your cat is long, so it can stretch to full height. For a flat scratcher, the pad should be wider than the cat's body. Stability matters more than size: a scratcher that rocks or slides will not be used twice.
Care instructions
- Rotate or flip cardboard pads - many are reversible and last about twice as long.
- Vacuum sisal posts to lift packed hair; replace the post once the rope is shredded to the core.
- Check the base and fixings monthly and tighten anything loose.
- Place the scratcher where your cat already scratches, not where you would like it to.
